My daughter desperately needs braces, but we just can't afford it. I wonder if there is an orthodontist that will charge according to income.

NO UNFORTUNATELY NOT. PRICES FOR TREATMENT DONT TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION. BUT YOU CAN TRY A LOWER SOCIAL INCOME AREA AND GO TO AN ORTHY THERE THEY DO CHARGE LESS.
Reply:I don't know of any that charge according to income. Has she seen an orthodontist yet? If not, there are some that offer free consultations. Lots of orthodontists offer a monthly payment plan through their offer or you can go through a financing company to get a loan. Hope this helps.

ok do you have the choice of getting molarbands like can you say HOOKs intead?
I have one baby tooth left its my second last on the top
will i have to get it like cant they just brace the ADULT teeth?
and wait till it falls?
About the orthodontist?
You will not get braces on your first visit to the orthodontist. In fact, they won't do very much at all. They will probably take x-rays and pictures of your teeth. They will look at your teeth and decide what needs to be done. Most likely they will take a mold of you mouth so that they can get your braces ready. They might put rubber bands between your back teeth, but I seriously doubt that they will do it the first time you go. Don't worry about it. Everything will be okay. Your first visit isn't a big deal.
Reply:well my friend had to get braces when she still had a baby tooth and she had to get it removed. but another one of my friends had to get braces and had a baby tooth and they just put braces on the adult teeth...it just depends on ur ortho.

Is my Orthodontist weird or is it just me?
I just think its weird that almost everyone who goes into my Orthodontist office comes out with braces and headgear. I have it and it sucks. I don't understand why everyone needs it! I mean EVERYONE who goes to my ortho has it. I think its a waste of money!

I do know that everyone that I have talked to with my Orthodontist has had to have their braces on longer than intended. I was told 10 months and here it is 14 months and I still have them. I do want them perfect though. Especially if I paid $2700.00 for them.
Reply:it's kinda weird but my ortho is like that too every single person from my ortho gets the same exact treatment brackets on every tooth then rubber bands streched over 2 brackets. teh total price is 3600...

Toothpick at Orthodontist?
This might be a silly question, but the last two times I have visited my orthodontist, they have put this toothpick that had a red tip and a blue tip in my mouth and then on my wire. Why the heck do they do that? Whats this toothpick all about??

Before you get braces on, like when they tell you to set up the appointments to get teeth pulled, if the assistant of the orthodontist says you will probably need braces for a year, is this accurate, or just a guess?????

about extracting some teeth:its a part of orthodontic therapy in some cases, in order to push the other teeth backward in the mouth.for example in people that their teeth and lips are so protrude(we call it bi maxillary protrusion in dental texts).

or when they arent enough space in mouth for all the teeth so the dentist choose 1-2 or 4 teeth to be pulles in 1 or both jaws to align other teeth.

I took an online test to see what career suites me and from my results I really liked the pediatrician and orthodontist careers, but I am not sure which is better.. do you have any sudgestions?..like which career pays more or works more hours.. stuff like that...

As a nurse, none of my high tech babies ever died but it is something doctors see a lot of in time.
And time..you will be working 16 to 18 hour days and every other weekend as a doc. You will be on call several nights a week.
If you are a doctor, you are always a doctor, 24 hours a day. People don't 911 their dentist. Even if you break a tooth after hours, we will see you at the hospital usually.
You have a very hard decision to make.
There are more important things than money.

- 4 years Bachelor degree
- 4 years medical school
- 3 years Pediatrics residency
In order to become an Orthondotist, you need:

- 4 years dental school
- 2 years Orthodontics residency
With Pediatrics you'll be treating kids, orthodontics you can treat everyone.
The thing is, Medical doctors (MD) have alot more prestige then Orthodontics, and the pay will probably be better. Orthodontics have better hours (usually 9-5) but Pediatricians usually have better pay.

But anyways if you really dont know for sure, what you should do is try to volunteer with the patients, I was in the same ordeal, but after I volunteer I found out what I really did want to be.
