Braces question?!?! orthodontists help!?
I am no expert. I did however work at a dental office for 6 years. One of the reasons that you need braces on the bottom even though your bottom teeth are fine. Is probably the same reason they told me, because my top were fine and only a couple of my bottom teeth needed straightening. You have to make sure that both your top and bottom jaw are aligned correctly and when you change the upper palet you need to make sure that your lower is still in line. Hope that helps some.
Reply:no i understand this completely i have braces and my younger sibling has everything you just described. if they say you need bottom ones you need them.Do you have an overbite or underbite because the rubber bands are used to pull the jaw back or forward.which need to be connected from the bottom to top. trust me you will be happy in the end. my mum said their was no way that i needed bottom ones and i ended up with them. money is worth that beautiful smile as an adult. and after all its not like your paying for it so don't put it off. if your still concerned about the price go check out other orthodontist.Hope this helped = )
Reply:i don't think there is a way for you to do that, but i would look around for orthodontists before you make the plunge see what others say.
Reply:Bottom teeth might be fine but you might not have proper bite.
Purpose of putting a braces is to correct your bite, coz even if all your teeth are straight and you have improper bite, that can lead to temporal mandibular joint problem in the future.so i'm sure they have their reason to ask you to put on braces for the bottom teeth as well, just double check with your orthodontist or seek for a second consult from another orthodontist.
