What do dentists/orthodontists usually do...?

What do they usually do before they put braces on? About four months ago I found out I'm getting braces in February. What's the process they go through before actually putting the braces on?

The doctor will take a look at how your teeth are arranged and look at ways to slowly move your teeth into better alignment. There's all kinds of braces, from the heavy duty ones to the light invisible ones. They attach these braces to your teeth and slowly (usually over a period of a year or more) bring your teeth into perfect alignment. Getting used to them takes a little while, but after a while you eventually forget they are there, until the time comes for them to be removed. That's the day that makes it all worth while as your smile shines!

Best wishes!
Reply:um they clean your mouth then they do a mold of your mouth if they haven't already( i hate that part)then they get started with the braces. it's not too bad it doesn' hurt until afterwards cause you start to feel all the pressure on your teeth then it goes to your head but, just take some tylenol and you'll be fine. There's not too much to it good luck though.
Reply:well they usually make a mold of your teeth, take some xrays of them--for before and after stuff.

my orthodontists did something different from others- they took the mold of my teeth and created this thin filmy/mouth guard looking thing that i put on and the braces just melted on to my teeth..it was really awesome that they didnt have to glue each brace on each tooth...but yeah just make sure to relax when they make of mold of your teeth cause alot of people freak out and start to gag on it....good luck!
