WHat do orthodontists do if you have an overbite how do they fix it?

It depends on how bad the overbite is. When I was a kid, I had braces on my teeth, and at night I wore a headgear. It had wires that attached at the back of my braces and came out at the corners of my mouth. It had a strap that went around the back of my neck and attached to the wires. Every month or two, the orthodontist would evaluate my progress and have me adjust the strap tighter. The device was painful and very difficult to sleep in. That was about 20 years ago. I hope they have something better now.

I had this mouth piece with little wings that hung down. my jaw had to lock into it to cose, which forced my jaw forward. over time, it worked. but this was in the 80's when I was young. rubber bands on my regular braces was used too. There are many more options nowadays then there used to be. Good luck!
