How do orthodontists remove braces? deatiled information please!!!?
everything will remain intact in your teeth. i.e. the ties will still be holding your wires down on your brackets. anyway, here it is...

Removing braces 101

1.) they will use the bracket remover that will look like pliers with little hooks at the end to pluck under the brackets and remove them from the tooth. sometimes excess glue will remain on the tooth.

2.) then with a band remover, they will remove the band. it also looks like a plier, but it will hook under the bands and use your tooth as leverage to pull it off your tooth.

3.) with a high speed hand piece and a stone, finishing bur the certified assistant or orthodontist will go along each tooth and remove the excess bonding material.

i do it, and it's a pretty simple process that shouldn't take that much time...maybe about 10-15 minutes. there is very little discomfort or pain involved, if any.
Reply:I had braces twice when I was younger so I can tell you that it was NOT painful at all! Not sure I can give you step by step instructions, but I do remember the ortho getting out what looked like a pair of small pliers. He put them around each brace and it popped right off my teeth! I did not hurt one bit...and remember I had this done twice and with two different orthos...and they both did the same thing. This was a long time ago so it could be different now...

To ease your mind, as your ortho for his/her detailed step by step so that you know exactly what will happen.

The only weird thing about getting your braces off is that afterwards your teeth feel a little bit "slimy"...it just takes a few days to get used to having just plain ol' teeth!
Reply:Removing the braces is really quick. The technician will use a tool similar to pliers; it takes about 1 - 2 minutes. She did not remove the rubber bands and wires first. She just pinched each bracket with the plier device - it was so easy. The uncomfortable part I experienced was the removal of the adhesive on each tooth. The orthodontist will use a device that buffs the adhesive off. He will do each tooth separately. I felt a sensation similar to a minor electrical shock (remember very minor). It only takes 5 to 7 minutes to do this. My teeth did not feel slimy after the removal of my braces. The orthodontist will then take pictures of your teeth and of you without the braces. After all this you will be smiling all the time!
