Can orthodontists find cavities?

I think I have a cavity and I have braces. Tomorrow i am going to the orthodontist so I am just wondering if he will find it.

Wrong category BUT I NEED TO KNOW!

Can orthodontists find cavities?
Yes...They have gone to dental school and have the title DR. they are qualified to find cavities but will most likely recomend you to see your DDS (regular dentist) for the cavity to be taken care of.
Reply:good luck! I know how painful a cavity can be. Hopefully that's all it is and it can be taken care of soon! Report It

Reply:Well y not i think he is qualified to do so...good luck
Reply:well i think they can find one but i don't think they can mess with it. u will have to go to the dentist

hope i could help
Reply:Why dont you tell him what you think, and get him to take a look. Are you afraid to speak to him?
Reply:if he happens to see it yes otherwise he wont go out of his way to find one.
Reply:tell him if he doesn't
Reply:Yes. He is trained first for general Dentistry which is finding things like cavities, and then he gets trained for Orthodontics. He may refer you to a General Dentist depending on where it is. If it is in the vicinity of your braces, then he willo probably do it himself.
Reply:They can. I am pretty positive that orthodontists learn and train to be dentists then orthodontists. They both know alot of things about teeth, ofcourse.
Reply:Yes.
