Is my Orthodontist weird or is it just me?

I just think its weird that almost everyone who goes into my Orthodontist office comes out with braces and headgear. I have it and it sucks. I don't understand why everyone needs it! I mean EVERYONE who goes to my ortho has it. I think its a waste of money!

I thought that headgear was a thing of the past! I mean some cases may need them but not like it was 10 years ago due to the evolution of dentistry. I do know that everyone that I have talked to with my Orthodontist has had to have their braces on longer than intended. I was told 10 months and here it is 14 months and I still have them. I do want them perfect though. Especially if I paid $2700.00 for them.
Reply:it's kinda weird but my ortho is like that too every single person from my ortho gets the same exact treatment brackets on every tooth then rubber bands streched over 2 brackets. teh total price is 3600...

Reply:He' s not weird, he's just an orthodontist. He probably tells everyone they need braces - why? Because then he gets MONEY!





The other reason everyone at your orthodontist has braces and headgear could be that they are at an orthodontist. Word on the street is that's wear you get braces.
Reply:ortho means corrective and dontist refers to dentition, or teeth. you need braces and head gear for corrective dentistry. most people who see an orthodontist already know they need this. someone with a perfect smile is not going to make an appointment. your orthodontist is not weird, it's you.
