Orthodontist..?
It takes about 8 to 12 years to be a orthodontist all thought in theory and in some states you can do it in six.

You need at least 2 years of predental education although most dental students have a BS in predental program.

"All dental schools require applicants to take the Dental Admissions Test (DAT). When selecting students, schools consider scores earned on the DAT, applicants’ grade point averages, and information gathered through recommendations and interviews. Competition for admission to dental school is keen."

Four years at a approved dental school.

In 17 States licensed or certified dentists who intended to practise in a speciality area have the additional requirements which include 2 to 4 years of postgraduate education and, in some cases, the completion of a special State examination.

Most State licenses permit dentists to engage in both general and specialised practise.

There are number of scholarships, so actual cost can be low.

If your willing to serve in the military it can be free (I think you are required to complete 6 years of service after you complete your training or it may be on a one year per one year of schooling I don't know for sure).
