Orthodontist told me i need braces! the cost of the treatment is $5,975!!!!!?

i have a 50% overbite so i need braces..my plan is to go back to the philippines and get my braces there because its cheap compare to $5,975 and comeback here in the u.s. But this is my problem cause if i got my braces put on in the philippines i also need adjustments here in the u.s..how will i continue my treatment here in the u.s? is it still expensive to see an orthodontist here just for adjustments and treatment? and how much for adjustments and treatment?

Orthodontist told me i need braces! the cost of the treatment is $5,975!!!!!?
Go get evaluated by a few other orthodontists. You may find their prices vary. And most provide a payment plan.

The total cost of the braces includes all the maintenance visits and not just the application of the braces, and possibly retainers.
Reply:Most orthodontists won't treat you on a regular basis if you get your braces outside the country.

Your situation is exactly why we need a reformed healthcare system - so hardworking people can actually afford insurance.
Reply:Got insurance?
Reply:why don't you just set up a payment plan with the dentist or go call around to see if you can get it cheaper somewhere else.
Reply:Just tell the ortho that you moved from the Phillipines %26amp; you need to continue treatment. Lot of orthos let you transfer in once they are on your teeth.

Shop around a bit, you may be able to get a better price.
Reply:that price should cover all treatments inclucing braces. You can set up a payment plan.
Reply:many oradontists wont help ur braces unless you got ur braces by them. because all that money for the braces includes care and adjustments with them.
Reply:thats a tuff one... ask your doc, call yoru people... make some claculations and figure it out... ask the ones who will knwo.
Reply:You need a different provider. That price is ridiculous. And if you do go out of the country, ny work done here will NOT be guaranteed.
Reply:well, i have braces and they're not bad they actually work !

well they have to work especially if you're paying so much money for it and i know its cheaper in the philippines but true you're going to need to go for adjustments and treatment wherever you are now and when I go for the adjustments and treatment its not close to $6000 its probably 100 or a little more but im not 100% sure ..
Reply:Don't you have dental insurance. I just had braces put on 3 of my kids and the insurance is paying 50%. I don't know if an orthdontist will adjust someone elses work.
Reply:Shop around and always get a second opinion
Reply:Take the time to look for orthodonists in your area that may offer sliding scale treatments. There are clinics and even dental schools out there that offer major discounts on dental work. Some you have to siply go and wait in line with the chance that they may or may not have time to see you that day, kind of a first come, first serve deal. I think that by the time you paid for the dental work in the Philippines, flew over there and spent money on hotel and food and such, and then spent money on the year of re-adjustments that you need, you are probably not going to save much money. Plus, if a dentist messes up here, they will have to fix what they did without charging you more as most use a flat rate fee. If they mess up there you will have to pay a dentist here to fix it.
Reply:It's costly, hon, no matter what. You might shop around for another orthodontist who might do it cheaper. Putting braces on is not big deal... it is the monthly adjustment that is.
Reply:I know it's a lot of money but they don't expect you to pay it all at once. Your treatment will probably take a couple of years = 24 months, about $250 per month.

research dental plans to see if you can get one that gets you a discount on all dental work including orthodontia. if you work full-time your employer may have a plan like this. if you're self-employed there are group plans for people like yourself.

either way, don't rush into it without comparing costs but don't ignore it either. it's worth getting done, and you're right about starting in the Philippines -- no-one here is going to do the adjustment for nothing. they're all part of the whole treatment. it would be like going to a surgeon abroad for surgery and expecting doctors here to do follow-up treatments for free. bite the bullet (if you will) and do it here, even at a higher price.
Reply:it'll be damn expensive in the US no matter what... don't cheat the system, and get the 6,000 dollar braces here. mine cost near 7,000... :/

if you work somewhere, see if they have a dental plan or something that will help with the costs, they'll pay around half of it, depending who you work for
Reply:yes! that's the price check here with your or tho about payment plan, i did my daughter's with only $100.00 per month. another thing ! your mom check w/medicaid elegy. or w/ kids care plans $20.00because don't make no sense go to Phillip when here you have to paid 120.00 per visit or adjustments.

i work i don't depend of welfare, you make qual. for one of these options. tell mom to ask!
