Orthodontist?

ok...i went to the dentist yesterday and got my teeth cleaned and i need braces...but i have to get xrays on tuesday at the orthodontist first. do the xrays hurt. does it take long to do. what xactly do they do to take them?

x rays are required prior to the treatment ,it doesnt hurt at all and its not gonna take longer, your jaws will be exposed to x rays and it will hardly take few mins and in 30 mins or so you will be geting it developed , you just have to be standing in the approriate position in front of the x ray machine as per the radiologists instruction !
Reply:The x-rays are a piece of cake. They usually take two. Not like the ones at the dentist with the tiny film that goes in your mouth, these are a bigger machine that whizzes around you. Usually the first one is called an OPG and takes an x-ray of your jaw (looks like a big smiley face). The person positions you standing next to this machine and in about 20seconds if moves around your head and takes the x-ray. The other is very similar (called a lateral ceph) and it comprises of the same type of thing just is quicker than the last. Don't worry about the radiation, you get more flying in a plane! Its nothing to worry about! :)
Reply:They stick a brace thingie into your mouth to hold it open and shine a light in... a tiny bit uncomfortable, but not painfull in any way shape or form.
Reply:2all they do is sopen your mth with these metal things and it does hurt 4 me it took about 30 minuets
Reply:oo wow...xrays r the easiest thing u will ever do in ur life lol...all u do is go up to a machine and there is this part they lift in which u rest ur chin on (dont worry they adjust it to where its comfy 4 u) and u bite down on a lil piece (which i salso adjusted to fit u)...they will have put on a kinda heavy apron kind of clothing to keep the rest of ur body from recieving the radiation and haveu take off any typpe of metal (jewelry, hairpins, etc.) from ur head/neck area...then u wait there as they step outside and turn on the xray machine...the machine will make a 360 around ur head and ur done! only a few seconds at the most! and the only part u have to worry about is when u get spacers! trust me that will probably be the worst part of braces!!! except if u get cuts on ur cheeks from the brackets and bands, i didnt so i wouldnt know...BEST OF LUCK!!
Reply:haha how funny! i just got xrays on monday because im getting braces on next thursday! haha...o no they dont hurt at all...it took me about 45 mins to get them all done...only one part hurts very little..itz when they shove some block in the back of your mouth so that they can get the xray of it...they take the xrays by putting film in your mouth, then followed by a xray photo light! good luck to you on your xrays!!
Reply:No, the xrays don't hurt but the impressions afterwards are kinda annoying. They take about 30 minutes.
Reply:You don't feel anything for the x-rays. You stand with your chin in a chin cup, bite down on this one thing. The x-ray thing goes around your head and your done. Very simple. :)
Reply:The x-rays don't hurt at all. They make you bite down on a piece of plastic and a camera rotates around you and snaps pictures. That's probably the least traumatic thing about going to the dentist!
