ok my orthodontist put this weird spring looking type of thing on my back molars saying it will space them out and it hurts ALOT. does anyone know how long it will hurt and what i can do to soothe the pain?

It will hurt probably about two days, however the first day is the worst. It also varies from person to person. I had braces for 3 years when I was younger, so I understand how much pain your in.
The best thing to do to help the pain is to take some Ibuprofen or better known as Advil or Motrin. This helped me many times with those stupid spacers. Trust me I know they are painful, but just think by tomorrow it won't be so bad.
Reply:i had that too thinking about makes my teeth hurt. it will proabably last form 2 to 5 days then it wont after that unless you get elastics which you might get next. take some medicene and pretty soon it will be over and your teeth will look beautiful!
Reply:It will probably hurt for a few days, it depends. Try taking a pain killer like Tylenol or Advil. You can always put an ice pack on your jaw to help relieve the pain, too. Eat soft foods like pudding because eating harder foods will probably make it hurt even more. Hope you feel better!
