Today my orthodontist put those metal bands around the 2nd to last bottom molars. I was looking at them in the mirror and I noticed that the band on my left molar is lower on the molar than the band on my right molar is on the right molar. It also appears to be angled slightly differently. Should the bands be positioned the same way on each molar (did they make a mistake?) or do orthodontists sometimes put them on differently for a reason?
Did my orthodontist make a mistake?
No, they are not going to be at the same angle. Each of your teeth sit at different anlges, especially if you have braces to straigten your teeth.
Reply:I'm sure its that way for a reason. Maybe that side of your mouth needed more finagling. You can definitely ask him when you go back though.
Reply:Chances are, he didn't make a mistake. It really depends on how your teeth are arranged, and what adjustments he wanted the bands to make. I'd imagine it would feel really weird if he really did mess up. Orthodontists are schooled for several years on stuff they do, so, he probably didn't mess up.
