Orthodontist help?
Being an orthodontist itself is not stressful. However, the training to become one is. While dental school is not so bad, you need to be at the top of your class to become and orthodontists. So it is stressful because you need to do really well. You will also need to do research that other dental students don't have to do. The orthodontics residency is like boot camp. It is very stressful. You have a lot to learn in a short (2-3 years) amount of time. Average salary varies, but roughly $250,000 avg. and can get up to $1 million or more. I think it is much better than general dentistry in the long run.
Reply:Orthodontist can be bored, but usually not stressed. There is no such thing as a pediatrician orthodontist. Most of orthodontic patients are kids, but they have many adult patients too. After high school you will need 3-4 years of college, 4 years of dental school, and orthodontic programs are either two or three years.
It is very competitive to get into orthodontics. Just because you want to do that doesn't mean you will be able to. When I was in 8th grade You could also change you mind too. I wanted to be an orthodontist too, but shortly after starting dental school I decided i didn't want to do that and chose another specialty.
