What do I do if my orthodontist files goes bankrupt?

I've had my braces for over three years (and last I heard though guessed at least another year), and now my orthodontist has filed bankruptcy.





He waited a month before even contacting any of the patients and instead left a note on the door of the office saying that a personal emergency has happened and the office will be closed for two weeks (we found this out when arriving at the office thinking I still had an appointment that was made well over two weeks earlier).





Yesterday I finally received confirmation that they filed "chapter 7 bankruptcy" and that they don't have access to any of my records because only the landlord can access their two offices.





Can anyone give me some advice on what to do at this point? It's already difficult enough switching orthodontists in the middle of this process, but also the fact that I don't have my records.

Reply:4 years is a long time for braces. No wonder he is going bankrupt. He is probably keeping you in braces to keep collecting your money to stay out of debt. (Unsuccessfully). If you Ortho can't keep his finances straight with all the money they make, I wouldn't trust 'em with your teeth. Go to another Ortho. Your current one must provide you with copies of your records or send them to the next place. They're your teeth, and it's your money. Get it done right.
Reply:As long as the orthodontist doesn't owe you money, just call a new orthodontist office, explain the situation, and set up an appointment. If you have a general dentist, it is best to call and ask who they recommend.
Reply:I CAN'T BELIEVE RAM GRANDHI HAS FILED BANKRUPTCY! I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO LOCATE HIM BECAUSE I PAID $5000 UP FRONT FOR MY INVISALIGN AND NOW I AM GOING TO HAVE TO PAY ALL OVER AGAIN FOR THE TREATMENT. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB AND HOPEFULLY THAT WILL DO SOMETHING. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO! LET ME KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY SUGGESTIONS!
